IKEA and Planet Ark Power going Zero Emissions

IKEA and Planet Ark Power going Zero Emissions

We are watching closely what is happening in Adelaide as a blueprint for Noosa. In Adelaide, Planet Ark Power is helping IKEA transform their energy systems into a solar grid connected to a commercial microgrid. This will assist with reducing utility costs and help IKEA deliver on its net zero emissions by 2030 commitment.

The first panels were installed in October this year with Planet Ark Power looking to assist IKEA in installing a 1.2MW solar installation on IKEA’s 14 370 square metre rooftop.

This project is being launched at a time when electricity network operators and energy retailers across Australia are focusing on the challenges of distributed energy resources, like rooftop solar, exporting energy to local networks. Planet Ark Power is using a new technology platform that optimises rooftop solar on large commercial and industrial buildings and resolves the issues of distributed energy resources connecting to local networks.

We will keep you updated on this exciting technological development, especially to see how we can encourage uptake of similar technology on the large commercial and industrial rooftops in Noosa!
