Last week the reality of climate change and its impacts was brought directly into our homes, as we watched firefighters struggling to bring the Peregian blazes under control, never giving up over many long hours. It's going to be a long, hot and dry summer of extreme fire risk across Queensland, so this is just the beginning for those emergency response teams.
