Zero Emissions Noosa - Data Dashboard
Noosa continues to make strong progress in adopting renewable energy sources, particularly solar energy. By the end of 2024, the shire achieved a total solar PV installation capacity of 96.7 MWh and a battery storage capacity of 6 MWh. However, renewable energy sources still only account for 33% of electricity usage. To achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gases, Noosa Shire needs to further enhance solar PV adoption, consider larger-scale renewable energy projects, and implement targeted initiatives to boost solar uptake in coastal areas. Disparities in solar uptake persist between the hinterland and coastal regions due to the prevalence of strata-titled units in coastal areas. Collaboration, public awareness, and ongoing monitoring remain crucial for the successful transition to a sustainable energy future. ZEN’s Rewiring Noosa project initiative continues to transform household energy consumption and accelerate the progress towards net-zero emissions.
