Noosa Lakes Solar for Strata - first 12 months results are in

It’s a little over 12 months since the last panel was installed to complete their 550kW solar PV system - the largest in the Noosa area.

The data on the first 12 months of the Noosa Lakes Townhouse Solar Project (i.e. excluding the commercial building which had solar a few months earlier).

I’m delighted to report back on the first 12 months of operation of the scheme -

- generated >744,000kWh of solar electricity

- that’s the equivalent of reducing 595 tonnes of CO2 emissions,

- or planting 9838 trees,

- or saving the emissions of driving >2.3 million kms!

— Ian Wright, the enthusiastic prime mover behind the Solar Revenue Model

Ian also said the scheme billed more than $120,000

The commercial building has:generated a further >108,000kWh - the equivalent of reducing 87 tonnes of CO2 emissions, or planting 1439 trees, or saving the emissions of driving 345,000 kms! and produced a savings/revenue of over $16,500

Total site statistics

  • generation of > 852,000 kWh of solar electricity

  • that's the equivalent of reducing 682 tonnes of CO2 emissions,

  • or planting 11,277 trees,

  • or saving the emissions of driving > 2.65 million kms

  • solar revenue/savings of > $136,500

“This year's solar export Feed in Tariff has dropped from 20c to 12c (40%!), but energy rates have gone up 15%. Projected revenue/savings in Year 2 are still around c$100,000. Hopefully in Year 3 we will be looking at community batteries to "extend solar hours" for Year 4 and on...time will tell.” Ian said.
