The just released UN IPCC Climate Change Report shows just how important Noosa Council’s Climate Change Response Plan will be for the future of the shire, according to Zero Emissions Noosa Inc. President Anne Kennedy.

“The IPCC report makes it very clear that urgent and focussed climate change mitigation action is needed if we are to avoid the worst projected climate impacts for Australia,” she said.

“However ZEN Inc. wants to change the narrative about climate action. It definitely doesn’t have to be a doom and gloom story. ZEN Inc. has clearly demonstrated the economic benefits of installing rooftop solar, and we want Noosa Councillors to see that climate action equals positive economic action. We want to break through existing barriers to enable more households, strata units and businesses to install solar and be more energy efficient.”

“We also know that electric vehicles can offer exciting opportunities to act as batteries for vehicle-to-grid bi-directional applications, and this is not too far in the future.”

“ZEN Inc. anticipated the need for this plan back before the last Council election, and asked all candidates if they would put a priority on it in their term. We are delighted to see that it is now finalised. ZEN Inc. looks forward to seeing that Council funds the full implementation of this crucial Plan and to working with Council to make it happen. This will demonstrate to the Noosa Community just how important it is for us all to take climate action now to reduce our emissions and help the Noosa Community get to zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2026.”
